International Trade and the WTO Still Matter as National Economies Recover

International trade is essential to global economic recovery and protectionism would be harmful, says Professor Jagdish Bhagwati of Columbia University, and author of In Defense of Globalization, in this interview with OECD.

Professor Bhagwati also challenges the idea that trade 'takes' jobs from developed countries, pointing out that firms from developing countries are now creating jobs in richer economies. He also explains the importance of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in applying rules to the global trading system.
